I love this cake bakery!!!! My kids play with it for hours and they make really neat, decorative cakes. It is really easy to use and they taste great too. The best part is they only need to use a regular microwave. I bet your kids will enjoy this product as much as mine!!!!!

Purchase your kids their own “real” cooking utensils and let them go to town. You can find small scale things if you look, and there are sets out there already put together for you.

My boys (two and four) are very interested in baking, and the youngest kept pointing to this toy. I figured the real thing would be better — and I was right, looking at these reviews. Measuring cups and spoons in different colors for the youngest set that can’t read (so you can go, we need one red cup of flour), small spatulas, wooden spoons, their own rolling pins, scrapers, a plastic liquid measuring cup, and some six hole silicone cupcake bakeware (gets less hot) made up their new bake stuff. (I would also suggest some plastic mixing bowls, to save your heart every time they knock into it.) You could find some of this in the dollar store, I would think. Put it all in a bin in the cupboard with some cookie cutters and sprinkles, and whenever I go to cook, they run to pull out their stuff to help. Cake “toy” forgotten! A more expensive but fun idea is edible food markers, picked up at craft stores in the cake section — the four year old can’t wait to color his cookies.

I really liked [...]or recipes and lots of great info. I have no affiliation with either site — I liked these when I started researching this toy.

With a little supervision, no “toy” needed. Kids just like having their own things. My boys enjoy red and blue, so I looked for things in those colors, too. We’ve already practiced sugar cookies, and they are looking forward to holiday baking.

My daughter watches me bake and always wants to help but as most mothers I want her as far away from an oven as possible. This cake bakery is a safe alternative. Obviously, the cakes are not as good as mine:) but they are pretty tasty for a child’s product and although the frosting doesn’t always aesthetically work out as we plan, the effort alone is fun.

My 9-year-old daughter and her friend had a blast working with this toy. Any grown-up complaining about the taste of the cakes should just not eat it and instead look at the joy on the kids’ faces as they devour their triumph. The girls loved the measuring, the mixing, the rolling and decorating. Getting the fondant to the right consistency is a bit of a challenge, but that’s actually part of the experience. If you think Duff should take his name off the product, perhaps you should read some of the interviews with him about it. His concept is that the kids need to learn trial and error, patience, learning craft before art, and hand-eye coordination. This product kept the girls’ attention and kept them busy for about an hour. They can’t wait until tomorrow to make another cake! Except for getting the cake out of the microwave…parents should keep out of the kitchen :)

This toy is fine…You can make your own fondant which tastes great..using marshamallow..just google the recipe, marshmallow fondant.

The kids love making the cakes, love making the Fondant and to their standards…the cakes are great. Maybe to adult

standards, not so great…but its a kids toy!
